The first edition of the Youth African Games, organized in Morocco from 13 to 18 July under the SM High patronage Roi Mohammed VI.

The opening ceremony reserved to the youngsters from 13 to 17 years old, took place at the " palais des sports du complexe sportif Prince Moulay Abdellah " in Rabat.

This event, initiated under the aegis of the Association of the Olympic National Committees of Africa (AONCA), gathered more than one thousand of athletes representing 34 countries in 16 Olympic disciplines: tennis, football, basketball, table tennis, cycling, box, rowing, swimming, judo, haltérophilie, taekwondo, fencing, shooting, athletics, fight and canoe-kayak.
