9th All African Games Algiers 2007 Gold for Algerians
Tennis event of the 9th All African Games held in Algiers from 12 to 18 July 2007 in Mohamed Boudhiaf Sport’s Complex at Algiers with great participation 56 men and 30 women representing 22 African Nations. Algerian women and men took all Gold medals with a domination in both individual and team events.
The distinction provided from Algerian player Lamine Ouahab who won all his single matches conceding a total of only 12 games.
In Men’s Single, the Gold Medal falls to Lamine Ouahab who dominated in the final the Egyptian Mohamed Maamoun (Silver Medal) beating him in two small sets 62 62, Bronze medals fall to Tunisian Heithem Abid winner in the quarter final of the Algerian Slimane Saudi and Algerian Abdelhak Hamerlaine who beat in the previous round Egyptian Karim Maamoun. In Men’s Doubles, Algerian pair: Lamine Ouhab & Slimane Saoudi took a long time to beat the Egyptian pair, Mohamed and Karim Maamoun in three sets to take the gold medal, the bronze fall to Tunisians Heithem Abid & Walid Jallali and Ghanaian Mohamed Salifu & Menford Owusu. In women’s single, Algerian Samia Medjahidi won the Gold medal foolowing her final against South African Lizaan Du Plessis (Silver), while Seheno Razafindramaso (Madagascar) and Nihel Saleh (Egypt) got the Bronze medals. In the women’s doubles, Algerians Medjahdi & Halou won the Gold medals when they beat in final South Africans Du Plessis & Anderson, while Egyptian Nagdy & Saleh and Nigerians Amadin & Olagundoye got the Bronze.
Teams event:
Men: 1st Algeria, 2nd Egypt and 3rd Tunisia. Women: 1st Algeria, 2nd South Africa and 3rd Egypt.
