The Confederation of African Tennis is deeply saddened by the passing of Cedric Babu Ndilima on Saturday, 31 May 2025.

Cedric was a well-known and respected personality in Ugandan tennis, recognised for both his achievements as a player and his leadership off the court. He started his tennis journey in Kenya in the 1980s and later became one of Uganda’s best junior players, ranked number one in the U15 to U18 categories.

He represented Uganda in several international competitions, including the 1994 African Closed Junior Championships in Côte d’Ivoire. Between 2005 and 2008, he played in six Davis Cup events for Uganda.

Cedric also served Ugandan tennis as an administrator. He was Secretary General of the Uganda Tennis Association (UTA) from 2004 to 2008, and later Chairman from 2011 to 2022. Under his leadership, Uganda hosted several CAT junior tournaments and ITF events such as the Davis Cup and the ITF Futures. He also introduced the ITF’s Junior Tennis Initiative in 2017 to help rebuild the grassroots programme.

At the 2023 Annual General Meeting, during his final report as President of the Uganda Tennis Association, Cedric said “I will always love the sport of tennis and I will always be a servant to the game that has given me an education and a lot of life experience.” Cedric remained committed to the growth of tennis in Uganda and across Africa throughout his life.

The Confederation of African Tennis extends its sincere condolences to his family, friends, and the Ugandan tennis community.

May he rest in peace.
