The Davis Cup Africa Group V event took place from 23 to 26 July 2025 at the National Tennis Centre in Gaborone, Botswana. Fifteen African nations competed for two coveted promotion spots to Group IV in 2026. The participating countries were Rwanda, Lesotho, Mauritania, Cameroon, Madagascar, Sudan, Seychelles, Botswana, Ethiopia, Congo, Libya, Mozambique, Tanzania, Uganda, and Djibouti.
Botswana and Mozambique secured their promotion after impressive performances in both the group phase and the promotional playoffs.
In the group stage, the teams were divided into one group of three and three groups of four. In Group A, Rwanda came out on top after defeating Lesotho 2-1 and Mauritania 3-0. Lesotho took second place with a 3-0 win over Mauritania, who finished third.
Group B saw Madagascar dominate with three wins: 2-1 against Cameroon, and 3-0 against both Sudan and Seychelles. Cameroon followed in second place with two 3-0 victories over Sudan and Seychelles. Sudan secured third place after a 3-0 win against Seychelles, who finished at the bottom of the group.
In Group C, the host nation Botswana delivered a strong performance, winning all three of its matches 3-0 against Ethiopia, Libya, and Congo. Ethiopia placed second after defeating Congo 3-0 and Libya 2-1. Libya ranked third thanks to a 3-0 win over Congo, who finished fourth.
Group D was led by Mozambique, who won all three of their ties 3-0 against Uganda, Tanzania, and Djibouti. Uganda secured second place with two 3-0 wins over Tanzania and Djibouti. Tanzania took third after beating Djibouti 3-0, leaving Djibouti in fourth place.
In the promotional playoffs, Botswana overcame Madagascar 2-1, while Mozambique defeated Rwanda 2-0, earning both teams a well-deserved promotion to Africa Group IV in 2026.
The final standings of the event placed Botswana and Mozambique at the top, followed by Madagascar and Rwanda in joint third place. Cameroon and Lesotho shared fifth position, with Ethiopia and Uganda tied for seventh. Libya and Tanzania came next in ninth place, followed by Sudan and Mauritania in eleventh. Djibouti and Congo were ranked thirteenth, while Seychelles closed the table in fifteenth place.
