About the CAT


The Confederation of African Tennis (CAT) is a Continental Sports Organization which gathers 52 African National Federations Members.

Mr. Jean-Claude Talon from Benin has been elected in October 2023 as CAT President.

The CAT Executive Committee 2023-2027 is composed by the following Members:

  • Mr. Jean-Claude Talon (Benin): President
  • Mr. Abdelaziz Laaraf: Vice President & President of Zone I (Northern Africa)
  • Mr. Ifedayo Akindoju: Vice President & President of Zone II (Western Africa)
  • Mr. Germain Ickonga Akindou: Vice President & President of Zone III (Central Africa)
  • Ms. Wanjiru Mbugua Karani: Vice President & President of Zone IV (Eastern Africa)
  • Mr. Jonas Alberto Junior: Vice President & President of Zone V (Southern Africa)
  • Ms. Fatime Kanté: CAT Women Representative

The CAT's Headquarters is based in Tunis and the Organization works in close collaboration with the International Tennis Federation (ITF).

For its administration Mr. Hichem Riani is holding the position of Secretary General and Executive Consultant who is overseeing the operations of Ms. Issem Essaïs, CAT Manager, and Mr. Hamza Khelassi, Head of Projects.

CAT's primary mission is to elevate tennis as one of the most popular sports across Africa, while striving to position its top players on the global stage.
