South Africa’s Kgothatso Montjane has once again claimed a major title, winning the women’s wheelchair doubles at Roland Garros alongside her Japanese partner Yui Kamiji.
In a tough final against the Chinese duo Xiaohui Li and Ziying Wang, Montjane and Kamiji came back from a set down to secure the title with a score of 4–6, 7–5, [10–7].
To reach the final, they delivered a solid 6–1, 6–4 win over the top seeds Manami Tanaka (Japan) and Zhenzhen Shu (China) in the semifinals. In the quarterfinals, they defeated Emmanuelle Morch Chasteau (France) and Diede de Groot (Netherlands) with a 6–0, 6–3 victory.
This win marks their second consecutive French Open title, following their triumph in 2023. The pair also captured the US Open crown last year and the Wimbledon title earlier in 2024, bringing their total as a team to four Grand Slam doubles titles.
