Tunisia’s Dominance


Luanda, Angola – 15th to 17th December 2025
– The Tennis competition of the African Youth Games, held in Luanda, proved to be a true showcase of excellence for the Tunisian team, whose outstanding performance marked these 4th African Youth Games. Tunisia won all the Gold Medals contested across the three events on the program: Boys’ Singles, Girls’ Singles, and Mixed Doubles.

Ahmed Darmoul dominated the Boy’s competition by claiming the Gold Medal in Boys’ Singles, while Sarra Attig achieved the same feat in the Girl’s draw, winning Gold in Girls’ Singles. To crown this remarkable success, the Tunisian duo of Ahmed Darmoul and Sarra Attig secured the Gold Medal in Mixed Doubles, giving Tunisia a memorable Golden Treble.

  • Gold Medal: Ahmed Darmoul & Sarra Attig (Tunisia)
  • Silver Medal: Hlumani Kekana & Lonwabo Majeke (South Africa)
  • Bronze Medals: Jeff Hesbon & Nancy Kawira (Kenya), Nacer Ghouli & Kawter Abidat (Algeria)

Participating Countries

A total of 39 players, including 19 girls and 20 boys, took part in this outstanding tournament. These young athletes represented 21 African nations, highlighting the diversity and growing competitiveness of tennis across the continent. The participating countries were: Algeria, Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burundi, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Djibouti, Gabon, Ghana, Equatorial Guinea, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Mauritius, Mozambique, Nigeria, South Africa, Sudan, Tunisia, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

The competition was overseen by Referee Mr. Stelio Carlos of Mozambique, who ensured the smooth running of the matches and strict adherence to the rules. His role was essential in guaranteeing a fair tournament.
