The ITF/CAT Southern African Junior Individual & Team Championships 2026 were successfully held in Botswana from 9 to 17 January 2026. The Individual events took place from 9 to 12 January, followed by the Team competitions from 13 to 17 January. The championships were organized by the Confederation of African Tennis in conjunction with the International Tennis Federation and the Botswana Tennis Association.
The event brought together 117 junior players and 26 coaches representing 11 countries: Angola, Eswatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Namibia and Botswana. The championships provided an important competitive platform for young players in the Southern African region, combining high-level individual competition with strong team performances.
In the 14 & Under Boys Singles, Tristan Summers of South Africa claimed the title, with Alec Koch, also from South Africa, finishing as runner-up, while M. Bowers of South Africa placed third. The 14 & Under Boys Doubles title went to Joel Badza and Chamakh Zhuwakini of Zimbabwe, with Alec Koch and Tristan Summers of South Africa finishing second.
In the 14 & Under Girls Singles, Wendy Modiba of South Africa emerged as the winner, followed by Gabriella Coetzee of South Africa in second place and Kamogelo Plaatije of South Africa in third. The 14 & Under Girls Doubles title was won by Claire Majeye and Ruvarashe Makunike of Zimbabwe, while A. Chakanyuka and Malak Macheng of Botswana finished as runners-up.
The 16 & Under Boys Singles title was won by Jamie Roux of South Africa, with Jack Thornhill of South Africa finishing second and S. Tabuberekera of Zimbabwe in third place. In the 16 & Under Girls Singles, C. Bouwer of South Africa claimed the title, followed by M. Molaoa of South Africa in second place and L. Philips of South Africa in third.
The Team events showcased strong performances across all age categories. In the 14 & Under Boys Team event, South Africa finished first, followed by Zimbabwe in second place and Mauritius in third. The 16 & Under Boys Team event saw South Africa take the title ahead of Zimbabwe, with Mozambique finishing third. In the 14 & Under Girls Team event, South Africa secured first place, Botswana finished second and Zimbabwe placed third. The 16 & Under Girls Team event concluded with South Africa in first place, Zimbabwe in second and Lesotho in third.
Based on the overall results of the Individual and Team events, South Africa was awarded the Best Nation Trophy of the competition.
