The ITF/CAT Eastern African Junior Individual & Team Championships 2026 took place in Kenya from 14 to 22 January 2026, bringing together the region’s top junior players for a week of high-level competition. The Individual events were staged from 14 to 17 January, followed by the Team competitions from 18 to 22 January. The championships were delivered by the Confederation of African Tennis in collaboration with the International Tennis Federation and Tennis Kenya.
A total of 93 junior players, supported by 18 coaches, represented 9 Eastern African countries: Burundi, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Seychelles, Somalia, Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya. The event served as an important development opportunity for young players in the region, offering valuable international exposure in both individual and team formats.
The 14 & Under Boys Singles title was claimed by Indiatsi Olembo of Kenya, who finished ahead of Abdoul Jabar Nduwimana of Burundi, with Ethan Dzidzornu of Tanzania completing the podium. In the 14 & Under Boys Doubles, the Tanzanian duo of Ethan Dzidzornu and Ibrahim Jibe emerged victorious, while Khalil Nathani and Idiatsi Olembo of Kenya secured second place.
In the 14 & Under Girls Singles, Bathsheba Ogamba of Kenya captured the title, followed by her compatriot Paula Ouko, while Selam Meleko Mena of Ethiopia finished third. The Girls Doubles event in the same age category was won by Naila Gikunda and Bathsheba Ogamba of Kenya, with Kalkidan Seyfu Bamenga and Selam Meleko Mena of Ethiopia taking second place.
The 16 & Under categories also produced competitive matches throughout the week. In the Boys Singles, Jeff Hesbon of Kenya took top honours, finishing ahead of Dan Arck Muterampuhwe of Burundi, with Samuel Okello of Uganda in third position. In the Girls Singles, Nancy Peter of Kenya secured first place, followed by Seline Ahoya of Kenya, while Ange Bebita Ishimwe of Burundi placed third.
The Team events confirmed Kenya’s strong overall performance across all age groups. Kenya claimed first place in the 14 & Under Boys and Girls Team competitions, while Tanzania and Ethiopia finished second respectively. In the 16 & Under Team events, Kenya again topped the standings in both Boys and Girls categories, ahead of Uganda and Burundi.
As a result of its consistent performances across the Individual and Team events, Kenya was awarded the Best Nation Trophy of the championships.
