The 49th ITF/CAT African Junior Closed Championships for 18 & Under (J200) came to a close in Cairo, Egypt, after five days of high-level competition from 23 to 27 March 2026.
Organized by the Confederation of African Tennis (CAT), in conjunction with the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and in collaboration with the Egyptian Tennis Federation, the event brought together 59 players from 13 African nations, all competing for the most prestigious junior titles on the continent.
In the boys’ singles, Nigeria’s Oluwaseun Peter Ogunsakin emerged as the new African champion following one of the most intense matches of the tournament. Facing Botswana’s sensation Ntungamili Raguin, seeded 2, Ogunsakin showed strong character after losing the first set 1-6. He fought back to take the second set in a tight tie-break 7-6 (5) before sealing the victory 6-3 in the decider.
On the girls’ side, South Africa’s Jahnie Van Zyl confirmed her status throughout the week with a flawless run. She did not drop a single set on her way to the title and controlled the final against Egypt’s Rahaf Mostafa, winning 6-2, 7-5 to become African champion.
Raguin Ntungamili bounced back strongly in the boys’ doubles event. Partnering with Morocco’s Ali Missoum, the pair claimed the boys’ doubles title after defeating Egypt’s Mohamed Sherif and Mostafa Samih 5-3, 5-3 in the final.
In the girls’ doubles, Jahnie Van Zyl secured a second title in Cairo, teaming up with fellow South African Allegra Van Der Walt. The duo proved too solid for the Egyptian pair Rahaf Mostafa and Sara Saad, winning the final 4-2, 5-3.
