Death of Mr Aziz Zouhir – Tunisia

The Confederation of African Tennis (CAT) received the sad news of the passing away on Sunday 31st July 2022 of Mr. Aziz Zouhir, Former # 1 Tunisian Tennis player during the 70s and 80s, Former Player and Captain of the Tunisian Davis Cup Team and Former Vice President of the Tunisian Tennis Federation during the 90s.

In addition, Aziz Zouhir was President of one of the most prestigious Sports Clubs in Africa “Espérance Sportive de Tunis” from 2004 to 2007. Through the companies of which he was the Chairman and CEO, he was for many years and until 2022, the official sponsor of the biggest men's and women's Professional Tennis Tournaments organized in his lifelong Club – the Tennis Club of Tunis - including mainly the Tunis Open (ATP Challenger) and the Nana Trophy (ITF Women's Pro-Circuit). In addition, the late Aziz Zouhir provided financial support to a large number of Tunisian athletes in various individual sports.

 

Aziz, as he prefers to be called, who left us at the age of 69 was a very respectable man, very generous and knowledgeable in sport, and was loved by all. In this painful circumstance, Mr. Tarak Cherif, President of the Confederation of African Tennis (CAT) as well as all the members of the Executive Committee and the CAT Staff present to the large family of the Tunisian Tennis and to the family of the deceased affected by this mourning their Sincere Condolences by praying to God the All Powerful to grant him his Infinite Mercy and to welcome him into his Eternal Paradise. رحم الله الفقيد برحمته الواسعة و رزق أهله و ذويه جميل الصبر و السلوان
