Egypt to Host the ITF/CAT African Junior Team Championship 16&U 2024

The Confederation of African Tennis is pleased to announce that the ITF/CAT African Junior Team Championship (AJTC) 16&U 2024 will be held in Cairo, Egypt, at the Cairo Central Security Club from July 16 to 20, 2024. 

The AJTC serves as the African Qualifying Event for the Davis Cup Juniors (DCJ) and Billie Jean King Cup Juniors (BJKCJ) by Gainbridge 2024. The dates and locations of these prestigious competitions will be announced by the ITF before the end of May 2024. Notably, two African nations will qualify for the DCJ, and one nation will qualify for the BJKCJ finals in 2024. 

 

This year’s AJTC 16&U will gather eight teams per gender, selected based on the following criteria:

  • The host nation: 1 team
  • The champion of the previous edition (2023): 1 team
  • The best-ranked teams in the 16&U teams’ ranking*: 2 teams
  • The qualified team from the North African region zonal 2024: 1 team
  • The qualified team from the West and Central African region zonal 2024: 1 team
  • The qualified team from the East African region: 1 team
  • The qualified team from the Southern African region: 1 team

 

*The 16&U teams’ ranking is published at the end of each year and is based on results from the past six AJTC editions.
