The Davis Cup Africa Group V 2024, held at the National Tennis Centre in Gaborone, Botswana, from July 17 to 20, saw fifteen nations compete in a thrilling contest. The teams were divided into four pools: three pools of four teams each and one pool of three teams.
In Pool A, Mozambique topped the pool with two victories, defeating Djibouti 3-0 and Tanzania 2-1. Tanzania secured the second spot with a 3-0 victory over Djibouti, who finished third.
In Pool B, Gabon emerged victorious, winning all their matches: 3-0 against Seychelles, 2-1 against Sudan, and 2-1 against Uganda. Uganda finished second with 3-0 victories over both Sudan and Seychelles. Sudan placed third with a 3-0 victory over Seychelles, who ended up fourth.
In Pool C, Botswana finished first with three victories, defeating Libya 3-0, Lesotho 3-0, and Madagascar 2-1. Madagascar came in second with two victories over Lesotho 3-0 and Libya 3-0. Lesotho placed third with a 2-1 victory over Libya, who finished fourth.
In Pool D, Mauritius secured first place with three 3-0 victories against Congo, Ethiopia, and Mauritania. Ethiopia finished second with two 3-0 victories over Congo and Mauritania. Mauritania achieved a historic first Davis Cup victory, defeating Congo 3-0 to finish third, while Congo came in fourth.
In the promotional play-offs, Gabon secured promotion to the 2025 World Group IV after a 2-1 victory over Botswana. Mauritius also earned promotion with a 2-1 victory over Mozambique.
In the 5th to 6th place play-off, Madagascar defeated Uganda 2-0. Ethiopia beat Tanzania 2-0 in the 7th to 8th place play-off. Lesotho won 2-0 against Sudan in the 9th to 10th place play-off. Mauritania continued their success by defeating Djibouti 3-0 in the 11th to 12th place play-off. Finally, Congo overcame Seychelles 2-0 in the 13th to 14th place play-off.
